Choreography
So you think you can belly dance and you think the moves look easy on the performance and you think it will take you only three days to get this choreography and clean it up. Guess what we all thought wrong!! This is not like The art of the drum solo with Sonia or The heartbeat of belly dance with Jenna. Basic moves to different drum beats. Almost every move is layered, isolations are crisp and you are moving pretty fast. When she is breaking down the combo's and even repeatedly going over them, the timing is much more slower than the actual choreograph music. When you do each full combination with music before beginning the next one it takes about 2 seconds to do when it took 30 minutes to practice. Fast tempo. "This is not a beginner or beginner/intermediate dvd." Intermediate/advanced and advanced students will probably enjoy there is no tutorial that break down moves you don't understand even though she does cover the moves pretty well it might be a bit much for beginner and...
Want to be challenged? This is the DVD for you!
Being a student of bellydance for over 10 years, I find it difficult to be challenged anymore, which is silly because there's ALWAYS room for improvement. But Sadie to the rescue! This DVD's warm up will not only stretch you out but REALLY work your legs and help you practice layering movements.
I think any GOOD dance instruction dvd should be way too hard the first time, otherwise after just a few uses you'll be tired of it.
It will take you a while to master this choreography (unless you're a superstar) but you will always be learning and practicing, getting that muscle memory to kick in. And once you DO master this drum solo, look out, you know you're hot stuff and you'll be so proud of yourself!
Be patient, have fun, and take breaks.
Great drum solo but for advanced dancers
Sadie is a wonderful dancer and an expert at drum solos. She is always a pleasure to watch but unless you are a very advanced dancer, you won't be able to follow her...If you think you are not very advanced, I recommend Bahaia's drum solo instead. It is easier and doesn't have too complicated isolations and shimmies.
