Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Volume 4

My 16 yr Old loves it
I purchased this comic book for my 16 yr old son. He loves these types of books and cant seem to get enough of them. He is loves all Japanese animation be it cartoons on tv or books.

Meh.
Geass isn't very good. The things about it that I enjoy have been done much better in other shows. I watch this with family members, because it's easier for them to get into than Mobile Suit Gundam or Deathnote. They seem to enjoy it a lot more than I do.
If you like colorful images, military tactics, revenge stories, and soap operas, you'll probably enjoy the first season of Code Geass. If you're new to anime and you're looking for an entry point, this works.

Bam Margera Presents: Where the #$&% is Santa?

NOVAK IS GREAT IN THIS-FUNNY MOVIE
BAM MARGERA PRESENTS
WHERE THE #### IS SANTA

I bought this DVD for my girl for Christmas and she could not have been any happier, she is absolutely in love with Bam. So it was a big hit with her which made me a big hit with her, nice. Any way I watched this with her that night which was ok because I am a fan of Bam and all them so it was cool. It has been a while since anything new has come out from these guys so I was excited to watch it, I knew it would good.

The movie is all about Bam and company taking a trip to the Arctic Circle some where in Finland trying to find the real Santa Claus. Apparently the only thing left for Bam to get his wife Missy since she has everything she could possibly want he decides that the real Santa is the only logical gift. Accompanying him on this trip is his brother Jess and Chad I. Ginsburg from CKY, Mark Hanna, Joe Frantz, and a personal favorite of mine Brandon Novak. Back at home Missy and Bam's parents have to put up...

amazing
love this movie. i couldnt stop laughing, cant wait for more movies i own most his movies

Bam At His Best!!
I bought the DVD on 12/2/08; and let me tell you that I laughed so $&%*ing hard!! Bam hasn't lost his touch when it comes to his pranks and humor. The movie reminded me a his CKY days and I really felt sorry for poor Brandon Novak being the brunt of his jokes! Bam's wife, Missy Margera, is looking pretty as ever, Jessie looks good, glad to see Chad I. Ginsburg, Mark Hanna is a mess, and Joe Frantz was funny too. Really wished that Rake Yohn, Brandon DiCamillo, Ryan Dunn, and Raab Himself was with Bam in this movie, but I still enjoyed it! This DVD is a must for Bam Margera/CKY fans.....I highly recommend it!

The Man Called Flintstone

Our Man Flintstone
In the midst of the mid- 'sixties spy craze came this 90 minute feature length film. It was Hanna- Barbera's second theatrical feature, the first being Hey There, It's Yogi Bear. Everything good about the Flintstones to date found its way into this 1966 movie, but this Columbia release (now Warner Bros.) also features seven songs and two different animation looks in the opening and closing title sequences. HB, to their credit, kept the loved look of the long running prime time TV show for the entire feature. The DVD release was held up for a long time due to various debacles, but amazingly, this release managed to keep the cel-look cover art, while the back features three title cards used in theaters.

The film is in English with French and Spanish subtitles, but other than that, there are no extra features, which seems surprising, but perhaps an enhanced version will be released if this one does well. All the classic characters are here: Alan Reed as Fred, Mel Blanc as...

In Like Flintstone
In the '60s, cartoons made for the big screen had a charm all their own (check out the Pink Panther movie shorts). For Hanna Barbera, they would include Hey There It's Yogi Bear, The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones, and A Man Called Flintstone. When the Peanuts specials made animated featurettes on TV a regular feature, other animated specials tended to seem like drawn-out shorts with musical interludes. Not this one. A Man Called Flintstone is all savvy and style, with eye-catching graphic design and memorable songs built around the '60s spy craze, yet stays true to the original look and feel of The Flintstones (unlike later films which reversion the cartoons).

Quite sad how it's all tied up in litigation, of course, but cross your fingers and it might come out on DVD, and if you see it used, take a chance with our man Flintstone.

Order it from Amazon, Canada
As a previous poster noted, music clearances for the songs were not made when Turner acquired the Hanna-Barbera catalog, which is why the DVD release has been delayed -- in the US.

But for some reason, that has not stopped release of this DVD in Canada -- so go to Amazon.ca. I've ordered DVDs from them numerous times and the prices are usually reasonable (in fact, better, if the US Amazon is featuring the same selection as an import: compare prices on the DUE SOUTH box sets from Allied Entertainment).

For those who do that eBay thing, you can occasionally spot A MAN CALLED FLINTSTONE as an Asian market VCD. Legit, not black market. That's how I got my copy.

Neo Ned

Stranger things have happened....
What can I say, but "stranger" or the more appropriate word for this film would be "crazier" things have happened and yes it is possible that a "wanna be" skinhead and a black woman to fall in love...

Why it is possible is because Ned in his heart is not a skin head racist but a scared person who just wants to belong...

He's been displaced most of his life and despite the fact that the girl he falls for goes against everything he supposedly believes in she does something he's been wanting his whole life....acceptance for who he is on the inside and out.

Vice versa for her as well....

Anyway, it is a cute little movie and if one keeps in mind that it is just a movie, you will enjoy it.

Highly recommend!

Only on a rare occasion..
Only on a rare occasion can I say that a movie that went straight to Starz then DVD, actually DESERVED a nationwide release in theaters. The acting, plot originality, flow, composition, and the way issues (such as racism, etc...) are portrayed in the film were all superbly done. It definitely should have been shown across the country. I look forward to Van Fischer's next movie, whenever that may be. Just hope I don't have to wait three years+ to see it. :-)

Show your support for Neo Ned, it is definitely a movie worth buying.

Neo Ned
Like most kids, Ned idolized his father and dreamed of following in his footsteps. Unfortunately, his father was a two-bit crook who spent most of his life in jail. Without a family of his own, Ned falls in with the Aryan Brotherhood. Soon after, Ned is placed in a mental hospital where he is mesmerized by a young black girl who believes Adolf Hitler was reincarnated in her. What follows is a gritty character study and poignant love story of two people brought together by a seemingly impossible connection. As a result of that connection, they both find that there is more to a person than what is on the surface. This movie is a little shocking, it's funny and its sad with a bittersweet ending all rolled in one. The acting is awesome. Highly recommend, you wont be disappointed.

Face Off

Face Off on Blu Ray
Not giving a book report summary of the plot or acting critiques here. Just focusing on the Blu Ray transfer itself. Should you check on any of my reviews, and I hope that you do, that is what you will get, only a discussion of the quality of the transfer.

The video transfer onto Blu Ray, as opposed to the standard def version of Face Off, offers an improvement in both resolution and shadow depth....it is not the best video transfer I have ever seen and there are some scenes that appear soft and perhaps muted via the compression, but never the less, the video transfer to Blu Ray is good. There aren't any hints of video banding, aliasing or artifacts. Some snow or grain can be seen if you look for it but it is not very apparent or in any way distracting.

The audio is the star of this transfer, tho the audio on the Standard Def version was also good. You are offered DTS 5.1 or 5.1 EX. I preferred the DTS audio and, tho it is lossy, the disc is still demo...

Special Features include NO new interviews with Cage or Travolta.....
We already know this is a great action film with superb performances from both Travolta and Cage so I will just comment on the features:

Featurettes includes a decent amount information on all aspects of the script development, making of, locations, casting, set designs, special effects, weapons and the 'mimic' acting strategies for Cage/Travlota playing each other. Also includes 7 deleted scenes, a biography-type feature covering the life and career of director John Woo, and the original theatrical trailer.

The greatest disappointment here is that while several cast/crew members appear in newly filmed interviews, both Travolta and Cage participate only by way of vintage interviews filmed back when the movie was actually being made. You would think they would have been proud enough of this great film to come back to document it for posterity sake...

This DVD is probably worth the upgrade for fans, especially if you can manage to get a few bucks for...

A masterpiece
Face/Off is a spectacular film. It is a definite classic in terms of modern action films. Face/Off, like many action films, has enough explosive action scenes to leave you on the edge of your seat. However, unlike most action films, Face/Off's brilliance is found in its story, its direction, and its acting, not in its action sequences. With superb acting by two very talented actors, Nicholas Cage and John Travolta, the viewer is caught up in the story rather than the action, it almost deserves the category of "action drama." Although, being a John Woo movie, the action sequences are nothing short of spectacular. Face/Off, a combination of great acting, a great story, and well-choreographed action, is a must see for any action lover.

A Good Resource
I have bought several Bill Nye the Science Guy videos to use in my classroom. I teach 5 th grade but need to come up with ways to review the standards the students learned in 4 th grade. The students enjoy the videos and look forward to watching another Bill Nye video.

Perry Mason: Season Three, Vol. 2

A minority opinion
I appreciate the reasons for consumer gripes regarding the Perry Mason DVD releases. Like other Amazon reviewers, I'd like to pay less and see complete seasons rather than half-seasons released at a time.

I'd also like two-dollar gas, killer abs, and a winning lottery ticket, but they're not gonna happen either, so I'll just say here and now that Paramount has done a superb job of remastering the PM series for us diehards, and I encourage the company to stick with the project.

When I look at the quality of the prints, that the episodes have been restored in their entirety, that the episodes are generally longer than most of today's popular dramatic series, and the plain fact that paying several bucks for each episode of one of my all-time favorite shows is no big hit on my wallet when it's spread out over months and years, I'm okay with the pricing and staggered releases. (And no, I don't work for or represent Paramount, and yes, like everyone else I have only so...

Park Avenue Beat
Perry Mason is as much a part of American culture as apple pie and mom. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone of any age who doesn't at least recognize the name. Erle Stanley Gardner's books have millions of devoted fans. The television show it spawned was fabulous as entertainment, and today is widely regarded as one of the best shows the medium ever produced. Perry was the attorney you wanted on your side in a jam.

Raymond Burr had some good roles in films, but will always be remembered as Perry Mason. It was Gardner himself who picked Burr, even though the studio only agreed to let him test for Perry if he would test for Burger too! Barbara Hale was his pretty secretary, Della Street, who kept Perry human and was in love with him. William Hopper was the dapper detective, Paul Drake. He had a playful and flirtatious relationship with Della but every viewer knew that secretly her heart belonged to Perry.

William Talman as D.A. Hamilton Burger would almost be...

Rerun it again and again
Perry Mason, the one hour television show displayed originally fuzzy black and white on a round screen disappeared from original telecasts in May, 1966. It lived on in re-runs through the end of the millennium and re-appeared as a series of TV movies in the eighties featuring a bearded Mason and the ageless Della.

But 1960 was a special year indeed. Firstly William Talman, who played Hamilton Burger the brilliant but hapless Los Angeles County District Attorney was temporarily kicked off the show following his arrest following a raid at a "wild nude party" in Hollywood in March 1960, resulting in a stream of appearances by lesser prosecutors. As a result he is absent from many of the episodes in this series.

Secondly the Mason series, always a home for some of the better character actors of the era, had in the second half of the season, some amazing cast members. Louise Fletcher, later to win an Oscar, plays Gladys Doyle in The Case of the Mythical Monkeys...

Tales of the Unexplained - From Behind the Veil - 10 episodes featuring Boris Karloff

A must-have for Karloff fans
Not a lot to say about this series. The stories are predictable and pedestrian, but the casts are game and give good performances (many well-known character actors pop up frequently.) The directing is competent and the production values surprisingly good. The most fun is watching old pro Karloff mug his way through most of the episodes, sporting an amazing variety of wigs! "A" for effort, and the quality of the picture and sound is amazing. If you are a Karloff fan, you will want this for your collection. If you are a fan of the paranormal genre, it's not a bad addition to your library at this price, but it ain't no "One Step Beyond," believe me.

Take a Visit Behind the Veil
Tales of the Unexplained-From Behind the Veil makes a nice addition to your Boris Karloff collection. I am a big Karloff fan and among my collection is Frankenstein ( of course ), The Mask of Fu Manchu, The Mummy, the Mr. Wong Detective series, the Black Cat and The Terror. Filmed in the United Kingdom and produced by Hal Roach Studios, you enter a huge castle room complete with a roaring fire; Mr. Karloff rises from his reading chair and welcomes you to the particular night's episode. Each episode deals with encounters with the unknown... an apparition, strange macabre twists of fate, precognition and similar unexplained phenomenon. Filmed in the late 50's and never released on television, the episodes were quite haunting and atmospheric, with Karloff starring in most of them as a sea captain, doctor, lawyer, police constable and so forth. The shows have a suspenseful tone along with good acting and you have a what-comes-next anticipation as you watch the next episode. The twelve...

Karloff completists & fans should check this out
I think these are all a series of really cool supernatural stories, starring & hosted by Boris Karloff. He always plays something in each tale. These are fun to watch when you are in the mood to watch some low budget supernatural made for TV stories. I like the gritty black and white photography as it has a certain feel that color cant match. The 2 dvds are in this really cool tin. I think Karloff completists would want this and fans of Karloff should give this a try. It is inexpensive so why not.
If you liked Karloff's worst films, you'll have a good time watching these back to back with some popcorn and an unlit room.

Wisegal

Excellent Lifetime Movie
When I first saw previews for Wisegal I knew that I wanted to see it. It had a great cast and a great storyline. Turns out it was better than what I thought it would be. Alyssa Milano gives a great performance throughout the movie and she really "sells" her character. If you like Lifetime movies OR Alyssa Milano then I think you'll like this movie.

Short Storyline: Patty's (Alyssa Milano) husband dies and she doesn't know how to support her family anymore. She meets a guy who is in the mob which she doesn't know at first. She needs money to support her family so she goes to work for him. Throughout the movie Patty learns more and more about the mob and the guy that she doesn't like until finally she tries to get out. Watch the movie to see if Patty can make it out of the mob...

Again I thought this was an excellent movie and the acting was amazing.

It's a made for television Lifetime movie.
When I saw this DVD on the shelf at the video store, I thought "Oh, a mob movie starring Alyssa Milano, James Caan, and some guy I've never heard of. Cool". I read the description on the back of the DVD which basically describes Milano's character as a widowed mother who takes an opportunity to work with the mob in order to support her children. Since I knew nothing about this film, I checked the rating and saw that it was 'Not Rated', which doesn't mean a whole lot. It could either be really violent and bloody or it could be a children's movie for all I knew. Hoping that it would be the former, I took a chance with it and decided to get the movie. Well, I should have read a little bit closer... it turns out that WISEGAL is a Lifetime Television movie that was shown on Cable early in 2008 and now released on DVD. If you don't know what Lifetime is... do you know the channel that your mom or grandma (or wife, depending on how old you are) sits on the couch and watches religiously that...

I'm a guy and I like this Lifetime movie
I admit I had my doubts for this but Alyssa Milano really surprised me for her role in this film. I thought this movie was decent enough to earn an emmy nomination for Alyssa but unfortunately it did not happen. I was surprised how smart the character was especially while doing stuff for the mob and taking care of her family. It shows how different loyalties are when it comes to a family you are working for. Either way it was real treat to see James Caan in this as well because he always does well in the mafia role. I recommend this film to anyone who is a big fan of the mafia films. Hell she is just as good as Lorraine Bracco in Goodfellas and Talia Shire in The Godfather Part II. For any guy or mafia fan this is good treat.

Cannon - Season One, Vol. 2

Heavyweight in More Ways Than One!
I had been waiting for years for the release of Cannon on dvd. William Conrad is an affable, yet tough connoisseur / detective. In the series, he is always underestimated by the villains. They inevitably learn, too late, that, while, short in stature and stout in figure, he will work through the case and come out on top. By the way, it is great that he got this gig, because, after playing a terrific Matt Dillon on the radio series for many years, he was rejected for the television role (Gunsmoke) because of his appearance. Anyway, great, well crafted detective series that will be worth the price.

Mediocre Film Print Quality For A Great Show
Cannon season one print quality was not remastered by Paramount/CBS, who did a superb job on The Streets Of San Francisco, another early '70's Quinn Martin series, when it was presented on DVD. Cannon itself had progressed, with better stories and acting for volume 2, then was seen in volume 1.

"...don't ever ask a man that looks like me, if he knows what it means to let himself go"(Frank Cannon in 'Flight Plan')
William Conrad, got his first lead in a television series in 1971, as an ex-LA cop turned private eye, Frank Cannon. At the time, police and crime dramas were big, and were about to explode in popularity. Following in the wake of late 60's programs like Dragnet, Mannix, Colombo, The Mod Squad, Adam-12, and Ironside (just to name a few), Cannon was part of the early wave of a genre that would soon flood the airwaves in the 70's. A Quinn-Martin Production, the program has the familiar basic packaging of the company's previous prime time successes, The Fugitive, The FBI, and The Invaders.

Bill Conrad was a big man, an obvious fact that the series' writers made a point of emphasis, and humor, for the character Frank Cannon. They put Conrad's obesity out in the open, with frequent references his size and weight, or being on a diet. Cannon blames himself for his weight problem, and being something of a gourmet cook, doesn't make things any easier. It all seems unkind, but...

Rise of the Footsoldier

RISE of a GRIPPING Action Movie from the U.K.!
RISE of the FOOT SOLDIER

I haven't seen a good action and drama movie like this for a long time.

- The dialogues are funny in many scenes.

- The acting is fascinating. It keeps me watching and watching till the end. There's no moment of boredom.

- The action is non-stop. It's a bloody and violent film.

- It convincingly portrays the danger of steroids.

- It credibly shows the deadly downside of doing business with gangsters. When something goes wrong, i.e. some cocaine goes missing, they will blame it on you. They'll never listen to your reason. They'll kill you to make an example for others. There's truly no honor among thieves.

British Goodfellas.
Just saw this film and its an amazing British take on Goodfellas.
Violent, Funny and Outragous with some great performances from some great up and coming actors like Craig Fairbrass and Terry Stone.

awesome flick
This is a great flick with lots of action and a real-life plot which ends with real BBC News footage. A great movie to watch in parts or even all at once.

The Abominable Snowman

NOT genuine Anchor Bay
The three star rating here isn't for the film, which is one of Hammer's finest early films. It's for the DVD. Read the description carefully and be advised - This is NOT a DVD, but a DVD-R. I don't know who makes it, but despite what Amazon says, and what the case liner says, it most certainly ISN'T Anchor Bay, who apparently no longer have the rights to distribute the Hammer films. The genuine Anchor Bay copy is on Amazon too, at the usual ridiculous astronomical scalper prices - $516.76 REALLY! This DVD-R, with the usual blurry copy of the cover sheet, and a generic label on the disk, is almost certainly an illegal copy.

Having said that however, it's also apparently copied from the genuine disk, as it looks virtually identical. The picture isn't quite as good as the real one (which I have), but it's not bad. A bit darker and less sharp, but by no means bad. About what you'd expect from a copy of the original. Everything is exactly the same, and all the extras are...

Ice Screams!!
"THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN"

This is an unexpectedly involving movie with a great look.

Forrest Tucker is greedy Tom Friend looking for a new side show attraction in this pristine black and white widescreen transfer of a gripping, thoughtful, artistic Hammer Films classic from the 1950s.

Tucker, aided by Peter Cushing's sensitive scientist Dr. Rollason, set off into the Himalayas to find the legendary eponymous creature in a surprisingly intelligent adventure.

Vast, lonely mountain vistas and a large, finely detailed monastery make a believable setting in which the hunters ponder life, their dilemma and the great yeti - who apparently has the ability to play mind games until the hunters become the hunted!

The sound design, including the hair-raising, echoing, whale-like moans of the yeti and the oriental music score add considerably to the authentic atmosphere.

In the entertaining bonus audio track, Droll director Val Guest and writer Nigel Kneale make reference...

The Abominable Snowman
The Abominable Snowman proves that you don't need a mega budget to produce an excellent movie. The treatment of the subject matter, the Yeti, is surprising. Not surprising that the great Nigel Kneale would create an intelligent story. The acting is superb. Peter Cushing became a fixture and headliner in Hammer movies about this time. This dvd has a nice special feature on Cushing. By all accounts, it was wonderful to be a part of the Hammer Family. The sets depicting the Himalayas are very atmospheric. The location footage, shot in the French Pyrenees, is also excellent. The director is the very talented Val Guest. Can't say enough about how delightfully surprised I was concerning the depiction of the Yeti. Who the Yeti were, why they were living in the awesomely foreboding Himalayas, their intelligence(and superintelligence), and their protection by the lama. The ending is haunting. Engrossing film. The Abominable Snowman is a triumph of the Horror/Sci-Fi Genre!

Tom Hanks Triple Feature

2 OK comedies and one very good film
This 3 disc set contains the following films:

Disc 1: BACHELOR PARTY
Disc 2: THE MAN WITH ONE RED SHOE
Disc 3: THAT THING YOU DO!

All are in widescreen and feature Dolby Surround 5.1 audio.

Tom Hank's career can basically be divided into four parts:
A. When he was doing bit parts before "Bosom Buddies". e.g. he showed up for a few seconds in a scene in the TV series "Taxi".
B. After he became recognizable in "Bosom Buddies" but before he became a star in 1984's "Splash".
C. After "Splash" when he was doing largely inane comedies.
D. After he became the first back-to-back Best Actor Oscar winner since Spencer Tracy and entered into his highbrow era.

"Bachelor Party" and "The Man with One Red Shoe" fit into time period C. These are basically B comedies from the 1980's in which Hanks is the best part of the film. Forget about the plot, it is basically just one gag after another. They are good films, but not...

Freaks and Geeks: The Complete Series (Yearbook Edition)

THIS DVD ROCKS!
I never thought they'd be able to pull this off, but at long last, Freaks and Geeks is available on DVD. The show aired briefly during the 1999-2000 season before NBC abandoned it to run an extra night of Dateline (shudder). TV truly has become a vast wasteland in the time since. A friend of mine worked on the show and let me check out the discs. I was worried they would screw up the DVD and do something stupid like take out all the songs to save money (over 100 were used). It's all there and it is truly awesome.

29 different commentary tracks (keep in mind there were only 18 episodes) borders on the obsessive, but if you're a geek, this is bliss. They got all the key cast members, including Linda Cardellini and James Franco, as well as writers, directors, television executives and even the parents of John Daley, Sarah Hagan and Martin Starr and some fans. There are some great bloopers and behind the scenes clips where people are completely out of character. And they also...

It's about time!
Yes! F&G is finally coming out on DVD!

For those of you who weren't lucky enough to watch F&G during its all-too-brief run, you'll soon have your chance to experience a true television gem on DVD. Freaks & Geeks ran sporadically on NBC during the 1999-2000 series, and then in reruns on the Fox (now ABC?) Family Channel. In short, it's the story of two siblings: Lindsay & Sam Weir, and their trials and tribulations as high school students in Michigan circa 1980. Lindsay is a junior and a former overachieving whiz-kid who undergoes a crisis of self after the death of her grandmother, and tries to find herself as a new member of a clique of underachieving stoners. Her brother Sam is a sensitive, nerdy guy trying to make his way through freshman year with a tight band of dorks and misfits.

As I write this, I realize that a brief summary doesn't begin to do justice to this multi-layered show. It's hysterically funny, poignant, often painful, and never tries to have the neatly...

Is This Reprint Worth the Extra Money?
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Freaks and Geeks. But this yearbook reprint is severely overpriced. It was originally marketed as a limited edition when it was released in 2004 until it sold out in January 2007. You could somewhat justify the high price of $130 on that version because it was SUPPOSED TO BE A COLLECTORS ITEM with a limited printing of only 25,000. Now Shout Factory has decided to start making it again, except they aren't calling it a limited edition. What doesn't make sense is that they are charging the same price for this reprint as they did for the limited edition collectible.

Skip the yearbook and buy the standard edition. At $45 or so, it's a much better deal. It has loads of extras that will satisfy the most diehard fans. Keep in mind that discs 1-6 are EXACTLY THE SAME on both editions. There is a heckuva lot on these 6 discs: All 18 episodes, 29 full length commentaries (some episodes have more than 1), 69 deleted scenes (also with commentaries), 2...

2007 Kentucky vs. LSU TM0387

Great Game! Horrible Video
This was one of Kentucky's greatest wins in history. I was at the game, so I looked forward to purchasing this video so I could watch the telecast. I was disappointed it wasn't in High Def (blu-ray) but understand that was probably asking too much. My main objection to this video is its a horrible video transfer. Honestly, it reminds me of a friend who taped the game on VHS and copied it onto another VHS cassette. With today's technology, the video transfer is just downright atrocious. The video is grainy and wiped out.

I suspect the length of the game required the producers of the disc to lower the bandwidth significantly to fit it on one disc. A highlight of this problem is the producers actually cut away a play from LSU's last attempt at a first down (I believe it was the third down play!) during the triple overtime and then cut away immediately after LSU is stopped on fourth down. Hey, I would have preferred they cut away a couple of series from the first...

They stopped him short. It's over, Kentucky wins!!!
This is an excellent video of this historic game in the annals of UK sports. This dvd contains the entire game, all 4 heart-pumping quarters and more. You see the great players of the time, and coaches Miles & Brooks, working hard to bring home a victory. UK qb Andre Woodson shines, with back-breaking passes to Stevie Johnson and Jacob Tamme, as well as Keenan Burton. Also, Rafael Little breaks free for some drive-extending runs. And it takes you into the overtimes that added so much more to the instant classic qualities of this great, great game! It all culminates with one of UK's all-time defensive stands, and an all-out celebration for the Big Blue!

Voltron Beast King Golion Vol 3

The final volume of Beast King GoLion
Beast King GoLion Volume 3 is a three-disc set that contains the last sixteen episodes of the series; this series is the original source material for what ended up becoming Lion Force Voltron in the United States. Unfortunately, the audio level problem that appeared on the first two sets is still present with the third volume. The audio is so soft that you have to turn up the volume quite a bit in order to hear the audio.

Just like the previous two sets, I could see where changes had been made between Beast King GoLion and Voltron. For example, shots of blood and people obviously being maimed or killed appeared in this version of the episodes. Overall, more cuts of this nature had to be made during the episodes included on this last set, when compared to the previous two sets. This was especially true for the last six episodes of the series.

While Voltron would be acceptable for kids to watch, I can't say the same thing for Beast King GoLion. This set is...

Voltron in Japanese!
This is it! Voltron has you have never seen it! Beastking Golion collection 3! This is the third and final collection for Lion Force Voltron series. Get these Japanese with English subtitled episodes because they are very different from the American Cartoon counterparts we are use to. It contains episodes 37-52! This is Voltron/Golion as you have never seen it! Highly Recommended it! A

Not your daddy's Voltron....(Part III)
These are the episodes that I've been waiting for. The many adventures of Kogane and the Golion team is coming to a climatic close in Collection 3 of Beast King Golion.

Lives are forever changed and alliances on both sides are tested and pushed to the limits in episodes 37-52. Some new characters in the mix is Raible's long-lost, presumed-dead son and Ryuo Shirogane, who bares a very strong resemblance to his late older brother, Takashi Shirogane.

Highlight episodes are:
-Space Speed Demon
-The 3-parter (The Hypergravity Planetoid Trap, No Tomorrow for Altea and Brave Shirogane's Brother)
-The Sand Planet of Death
-Angry Youth Suicide Corp
-The 2-parter (Reunion of the Phantom and The Last of Hys)

WILDERNESS LOVE

Wilderness Love
A GOOD movie for all the family. Kids try to reunite their parents. Highly recommend this film for all ages.

Movie Lover
For people who appreciate a family movie with no language etc this is a light entertaining movie

Good and clean
A stark contrast to too much of what is out there. I find that the use of gutter language is a sure indicator that the writers and directors of a movie realized that their film was a dog- so they add langauge that shocks to cover this up. AThis film is a welcome contrast.

Talento de Barrio / Straight from the Barrio

Great Movie
I have to say this movie was great from beginning to end. Daddy Yankee did an impeccable job in this movie. The character Edgar Dinero in which Daddy Yankee portrays is about a young man who has this incredible talent being a reggaeton rapper but at the same time does not know how to leave the streets, for he feel is his only survival. Entangled in a violent underworld, Dinero falls in love with a girl who brings him positivity. He knows he has to make a choice before losing the one person that is important to him. Anyway, this is a movie that everyone should go see. I just hope there is a second part to this movie.

A most stupendous story
What a thrilling roller coaster of a film. A tale of lust, passion and the quest for musical glory! One follows the path of a young Edgar Dinero and his rag tag crew of mates who spend the better part of their day dealing crack, racing cars and oogling at the backsides of young ladies in their San Juan ghetto.

Edgar Dinero ascends to reggaeton stardom through the help of one masterful mentor Julio Voltio.

And there was much rejoicing (and oogling at womens' backsides)

Great service & great movie!
The movie came very quickly and was exactly what I expected! :) I am very pleased with this purchase! I would recommend this to anyone :)

Tiny Planets: Bing Bong Bell

My kids love it
My kids first saw a preview of this show in the extra disc that came with the Sid the Science Kid. They watched it over and over again. So I saw this one and bought it for them and they love it. Recommended for any age. Mine are 2, 4, and 5. I even enjoy watching it with them.

LOVE Bing & Bong
My kids (2 & 5) both love it! I only wish there was more Bing and Bong out there for the purchase because its hard to find this show on TV. And as a graduate of CLUB KID UNIVERSITY myself, I love the funky tribal back beats. Just bought one for my friend who's having a baby!

Cutest little show!
This show is ADORABLE. The characters are so cute that you just want to squeeze them. (At least that's what my 4 yr old says). Bing and Bong go on all sorts of adventures, traveling to different planets where they explore and learn all sorts of good things, like numbers, shapes, sounds, colors, etc. The program is really entertaining, funny, and did I mention cute!? :) Definitely pick it up if you've got a preschooler in your life!

Focus: The Collected Filmstrips of Brian Dewan (Volume 1)

Towering absurdist genius comedy and commentary
My 11 year old son enjoyed them and unlike me, he never saw a real filmstrip in school.

Dewan absolutely deadpans the styles used in all the real filmstrips I was ever subjected to. No crack at all the veneer. The contents so often are completely factual on one frame and then in the next frame they veer off into complete absurdist fantasy or surreal human-heart-extraction delusion or into existential discussions of the plight of the mid-20th-century graphic artist. It requires close and careful watching. All done to the march of "beep" "beep" "beep" frame advancing.

This is not Firesign Theater, or Duck's Breath Mystery Theater, but a different form of absurdism, something maybe more akin to Dr Strangelove, in the way that everything must be done absolutely deadpan. The advance beeps require acceptance of one scene and preparation (anticipation, yes!) for the next. Triumphant!

Johnny Depp Triple Feature (Benny & Joon / Edward Scissorhands / From Hell)

Not just for Johnny Depp fans...
Most Johnny Depp fans will already have most, if not all, of these films already. If, like me, you already own a few of these on videotape, this is an excellent excuse to upgrade to DVD. Contains the classic Tim Burton feature "Edward Scissorhands", the marvelous romantic comedy "Benny & Joon" and the terror-filled dramatization of Alan (Watchmen) Moore's "From Hell". A wide and sweeping selection of Depp's films, showing the breadth of his acting abilities in fantasy, drama and horror.

Found this too late
I recently watched Benny & Joon and found this collection on here. What could be better than a triple feature collection of Johnny Depp? Nothing, that's what. :-) But, I found this too late. I just recently went on a rampage through the flea market and ended up buying Edward Scissorhands and From Hell.

Not that I'm really complaining, I mean, either way I would've gotten all of the movies. But, I guess my point is that this is an amazing deal.

Benny & Joon: A young mentally ill woman (Joon) is living with her brother (Benny) and, through a game of poker, end up being saddled with young Sam (Johnny Depp). Sam is a strange young man who likes to dress and model after the silent film star Buster Keaton. Sam and Joon fall in love and the siblings's relationship is tested when word gets out.

Edward Scissorhands: Depp's true break-out role in movies and the first Depp/Burton collaboration. An inventor who resides in a castle on top of a giant hill...

Johnny, Johnny, Johnny
Love this compilation of Johnny Depp movies. Depp Diversity. Although my all time favourite is Sleepy hollow. Just love everything that Johnny does.

Bloodsuckers from Outer Space

Out for blood...
Before we begin I must tell you my favorite films of all time include The Toxic Avenger, Pink Flamingos and Frankenhooker. The badder the acting, the badder the effects the better the film. With that said, and if you like the other films I mentioned above then Bloodsuckers from Outerspace is right up your alley ,er, in your gutter. It's supposed to be a spoof of the zombie horror/sci fi alien genre (even if the alien space wave attacking the people is oderless, invisible, tasteless and there is only a wind gust to signify the danger???) but that's hard to read with the way the story is told. You gotta be quick to catch it...like when being chased by Bloodsuckers the protaganists jump in the car and it fires right up(that never happens when zombies are chasing you) and our damsil tells us "First time, every time". The comedy is truly funny, not one concern about who might get offended or cry(so offensive I won't even repeat my favorite lines in fear of being censored). The make up is god...

Good Cult Zombie Movie But I Have Seen Better
My favorite movies are good cheap low budget horror movies like this one and boy this one is cheesy,"but good." This invisible presence invades this small country town. killing the towns people and turning them into zombies. I love the effects that they use in this movie. The vains in the zombies look like they were drawn on with blue sharpy. I love that. Like I said this is a good cheap zombie movie. But I have seen better. I recommend The Dead Next Door. Another great zombie movie. If you dont like cheesy zombie movies just movies like Night Of The Living Dead and nuthing else. I dont think that you will like this one. But if you do give this one a go. Pick it up at amazon.

Painted Skin

FAR FROM A MARTIAL ARTS FLICK
Yes, PAINTED SKIN offers action and conflict, all, very well done. But behind the expected slash and bash it's a sophisticated, character-driven multi-leveled romance. Think Romeo and Juliet with a dash of more- contemporary tales of guy gets involved with a crazy lady who turns on him and his wife, with twists and complications galore.

The stalker is (a potential spoiler here) a woman demon with hideous powers who falls in love him. Her nature is dark and complex, as is her character. It's a most-unusual and very good film. Issues of love and sacrifice and loyalty run all through this engrossing production.

The art direction and production values are extremely well done. I bought my DVD in China and the subtitles were 'challenging'; but the releases I see at Amazon must have more westernized translations.
Whatever, it's a unique film which deserves to be seen.

This may be the kiss of death for martial-arts seekers; but
this is a chick film...

Great movie - but not sure about this version
I am a fan of Chinese movies. And I own a reasonable collection of Chinese DVDs, mainly purchased in China. Several friends recommended this movie to me, but I was a little disappointed in a couple ways -
1. The music seemed out of place for a 'classic' tale. The music seemed too modern and electronic.
2. Some of the dialog seemed poorly dubbed, and I am referring to the the Mandarin soundtrack. I am not sure if the 'original' theatrical version was in Cantonese or Mandarin, but Donnie Yen's dialog in Mandarin seemed to be an over-dub of some sort.

I will probably buy a different version and make a comparison at a future time.

Can a Demon really Fall in Love?
Gordon Chan Kar-Seung's "Painted Skin" is a remake of the once popular horror-fantasy genre and looks aimed towards western audiences, no surprise since this is supposed to be Hong Kong's entry to the 2009 Academy awards. The film is based on "The Strange Tales of Lioazhai" by Pu Songling which has inspired numerous television series; including "Chinese Ghost Stories" and the original "Painted Skin" by King Hu which features a demon who stays young by devouring human hearts. Its touches of martial arts action, supernatural lore, elaborate costumes and period settings will no doubt appeal and entertain some, but I have to admit the film isn't for everyone as it will more likely alienate more viewers.

General Wang (Aloys Chen) leads his soldiers to raid a bandit encampment and in turn comes across a beauteous young woman, Xiaowei (played by beautiful Zhou Xun, The Banquet, Ming Ming). Upon their return to their town of JiangDu, brutal murders begin to occur and the victims'...

Serenity [Blu-ray]

Even better than the series
This is one incredible movie. No, you don't have to be familiar with the series to enjoy it, but the familiarity will make several moments in the movie that much more tragic. The action here is incredible, and unlike several of the Star Trek movies, the characters don't deviate from their series personnas. The emotional impact of several scenes is so intense it was hard to stay seated (a crash landing sequence can almost give you motion sickness). This brings a satisfying end to the storyline the original series had started. It's a shame the show never got to tell this story in its entirety. You can see where some parts of the movie are rushed in a way. Something that could have been stretched over weeks in a series had to be handled in minutes, and that robs it a little. But you have to applaud Whedon for being able to tie up all the loose ends he started with just two hours. Shame on the network for cancelling this, but congratulations to Whedon for giving the fans--both old and...

You Can't Stop the Signal
It wasn't suppose to happen like this...

Back in the summer of 2001, Fox announced that "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" mastermind Joss Whedon would be creating a new television show that was a cross between Science Fiction and the Western Genres... For months Fox spent millions of dollars promoting the one "sure fire series of the season" but then the problems started... the pilot was too slow, Executive Heads Clashed, and Baseball season all got mixed into the mixing pot... and in the end fans where left with an out of order, mixed up, tale of identitify (which is ironic if you think about it).

But the fans of Joss Whedon and of the character he creates would not let this be the end of the "firefly" universe, and after much fanfare, petitions, and literal Bitching; Universal Pictures did something rather uprecidented: they green lite a "big-screen' movie which Joss Whedon describes as "a thank you to the fans."

And that is exactly what the film version of...

Outstanding Space Opera
A wonderous vision of the future started in the all too short run of the TV series Firefly continues in the big screen version of it, Serenity. The TV show and movie is about the crew of a star ship that is as much unlike the USS Enterprise as it can get. It's a ranshackle freighter skippered by Mal Reynolds, a man part Han Solo, part Jesse James. He was on the losing side of an intersteller civil war against the Alliance, a buraucratic, oppressive government that seems to consists of people who believe quite fervently they know better than other people how they should live their lives. Captain Reynolds and his motley crew, including his former second in command from the war, her husband the pilot, an engineer who is as cute as she is sharp with the hyper drive, a muscle bound mercenary in a constant state of mutiny, a preacher, a courtesan, and a doctor and his troubled (to say the least!) sister eck out a thin living doing odd jobs out on the frontier, some of them not exactly...

The Mousehole Cat

A children's book brought to life like no other
The animation looks vivid and imaginative as the illustration in the book. The footage of the real Mousehole captures the charm of the book and the real recipes featured in the cartoon. Beautifully shot with an eye for the elegant. A must for cat lovers who like Christmas.

Delightful story
I had taped this program on VHS years ago when it was on the local PBS channel and decided to see if I could get a commercial copy for when the VHS tape breaks down. Friends and I watched the new DVD during the holiday season and enjoyed it very much; for me it has become a Christmas favorite. Being a cat lover, this charming tale of a fisherman and his faithful feline is very appealing, and the musical score is the best thing about it. Clever and heartwarming, the story of Mowzel and her "pet", Old Tom, is a must see.

I Love This DVD!!!!
This is an EXCELLENT story of a delightful cat, from a cat's perspective, and how she and her "human" saved a village against all odds. It's one of the more quality stories I've ever seen for children (and adults). It's a classic and should be in everyone's library of time-tested DVD's.

WWE: Survivor Series 2008

John Cena Returns....On A Really Bad Show
Elimination Match: Shawn Michaels, Cryme Tyme, Rey Mysterio, Great Khali vs. J.B.L., M.V.P., Kane, John Morrison, The Miz - Before I get started, if you look at the members of each team and just compare their characters to each other...these are probably the two biggest "odd couple" teams in Survivor Series history. Anyways, this first match would showcase a pattern throughout the night in that it had some booking decisions that hurt more than helped as they had around 3 quick eliminations right from the start...including one of them being Kane. If you can get past that, the match itself was a good solid opener that did it's job in getting the crowd fired up and I'll make an extra note here in that I really enjoyed the commentary as well as Matt Striker clearly showed why he's one of the best commentators in wrestling (not just WWE) today.

Elimination Match - RAW vs. SmackDown: Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, Jillian, Candice Michelle, Kelly Kelly vs. Michelle McCool, Maryse,...

WWE Survivor Series 2008
Thank god I didn't pay for this PPV. I really don't know what else to say, but I sincerely hope you take my word for it and refuse to spend your hard earned money on this DVD. I feel bad enough for everyone in the crowd and everyone else who paid to see this on PPV. Hell, I didn't pay for it and I feel bad for myself just for watching it! I almost don't even want to review this garbage but let's get on with it. Matches are rated out of 5 stars (*****).

1. Traditional Survivor Series Match

Team HBK (HBK, Mysterio, Cryme Tyme, & Khali)
VS.
Team JBL (JBL, Kane, Miz and Morrison, & MVP)

Pretty solid opener. Crowd was into this match. Very predictable ending and I felt like this could have been a lot better. I figured for sure Michaels and Morrison would be the last two going at it for their respective teams, which could have been really good, but it didn't turn out that way. Still a pretty good match, but relatively uneventful...

My niece and nephew love this DVD series. It's real construction site footage (or whatever the DVD topic is) with voiceover giving the equipment personalities. ABSOLUTELY GREAT!

Another great Mighty Machines!

Another great one from Mighty Machines!
All of these DVDs are great. We've got them all!
They're 90 minutes long, and my nephew can't get enough of them. He literally runs around the house singing "Mighty Machines" from the theme song...it's pretty cute. He learns quite a bit about the different types of machines, and he's really into all of the action. This one is perfect for winter! Definitely recommend!

Ice Road Truckers: The Complete Season Two

Entertaining
I got this for my husband for a Christmas gift. It is pretty entertaining. It is mostly just "fluff" T.V., but watching some of these guys whine and cry cracks me up. The ice road itself is pretty amazing. When it starts melting, I don't know how these guys keep driving on it to get in their last loads... Overall, I would recommend it.

THE ICE ROAD!
AWESOME! Winter road just gets in your blood. It's like a soap opera for rednecks! I love this series and it's edge of your seat excitement even though you know they will mostly make it!

awful narration, poor understanding
I was very interested in this series after spending 12 years of my life as a long hauler. Aside from the pseudo dramatic overdone narration it is apparent that the producers know very little about the occupation of trucking. True, it is dangerous, but the real problems that some of these guys faced had more to do with their ineptness in driving & understanding the equipment they use on a daily basis. The idea that someone with years & years of experience can't down shift without mashing every gear is simply unbelievable. The arrogance of the "Polar Bear" in his treatment of his hired drivers & lack of willingness to accept responsibility for his own behavior destroys his own credibility. The only driver who knew what he was doing & did it well was is Jay. To bad we don't have more like that. For all of the critical comments, I did enjoy the show but please get another narrator! aka Tenderfoot p.s. I was a lady driver & pulled flatbed with my own truck!

Greek: Chapter Two

Summer (Errr, Spring) of Love
Those loveable twentysomethings are back in Chapter Two, still trying to find their way in the world and enjoy themselves while they do it.

After Jen K's expose, Nationals comes down hard on the Greek system, but none harder than ZBZ. Frannie is removed from her position as president, and Casey is surprisingly placed as the interim. Kappa Tau is trying to find a way to keep the party alive even underneath the restrictions, and lend a helping hand to the disgraced ZBZs. Omega Chi try to remain the good guys on the outside, but on the inside they keep the rivalry with Kappa Tau as hot as ever, and Evan ends up playing more of an antagonistic role. During this chapter the pasts of Casey, Cappie, and Evan are revealed, including how she started a night with one of the boys and ended it with the other. The season comes to a close during Spring Break in Myrtle Beach, where plenty of secrets are revealed, relationships and alliances are formed, and everyone succumbs to the heat...

Greek Chapter 2
This is a charming and engaging continuation of the GREEK story. This series continues to be lighthearted and a joy to watch. My only minor complaint is that the picture quality of this upscaled DVD could be better when being watched on a high definition (1080p) television.
I recommend that you buy this DVD.

I love this show!!
The packaging was completely brand new in it own originally double casing. It arrived a day earlier then expected. This is an amazing show, I love it!!

Tripping the Rift: The Complete Third Season

Not bad, not great
I really like Tripping the Rift; I have the first two seasons on DVD. Then I purchased the movie, which I was very disappointed with, so I was hoping that season three would bring me back to the fold. Unfortunately, not so much. 3 or 4 of the episodes are straight from the movie (or the movie is straight from 3 or 4 episodes depending how you look at it), so the claims of "13 ALL-NEW EPISODES" on the DVD cover doesn't ring true.

I also don't understand how they came up with the censoring of foul language. In one episode ("Raiders of the Lost Crock of $%?&*!"), they bleeped the word b*****d (but left enough in that you could tell what it was) and a couple of minutes later the word was said again but not bleeped. It seems to be a little random. I don't get why they can't put out a "grown-up" version of Tripping the Rift (i.e. rated 18 or even 16). I can handle the swearing, the crude jokes, even a little CGI nudity (the censored banners in the Raiders episode mentioned...

Clever, Very Clever
You need to be a fan to appreciate this edition, but if you are, it is really good. They do some wonderful episodes based on famous movies and write around them with the "Tripp" crew involved. Stephen Root and Maurice LaMarche, are masters of voice overs. All of the voicing is exceptional except for the sexlessness of Jenny McCarthy. Am I wrong or did she also voice HAL 9000? Since this is a DVD only release, I was surprised by the "DE-JIGGLING" of six and the language censorship. The only other things missing are Tom Kenny and Billy West. But I have to say, I popped in the DVD, and really enjoyed sitting through these episodes. I would really like to see additional filler in the future of the actors doing their voices. Seth Macfarland is doing it now, as well as Simpsons actors. The worry that seeing the actor actually doing the voice will spoil the illusion, is baloney. It is really quite entertaining to see the voice overs in action. But getting back to this edition. . get it.

Save your money
If you are planning to buy Tripping the Rift:the Movie, don't bother. They cut it up and made it into individual episodes for this disc. The graphics for the character six seem to have gone down a notch. And Jenny McCarthy sounded like she just didn't care about how dull her voice sounds.

Heathcliff: Unleashed!

I still live for HEATHCLIFF!
I grew up watching HEATHCLIFF after school everyday in the 80's...The theme song itself brings me joy! I wanted to cry wishing I was a kid again (Smile)
I bought this DVD not just for myself but for my kids to learn a little more about the cartoons I watched as a kid. Needless to say all three of my kids love the DVD so much even the tune is so catchy that I overheard my 6 year old humming to the theme song while brushing his teeth before bed...lol.
I recommend this DVD to every parent that have small children in their home. They will love HEATHCLIFF and most of all the theme song.
I just wish the DVD was subtitled or closed captioned for the hearing Impaired since I lost my hearing at 12 years old. I still do remember a little bit of the song though. (Smile)

Love it!!!
Memories of the 80's when even cartoons had style!!!!!!!!!!! It's a classic and I'm glad I got it! Would recommend this to all.

Kyle XY: The Complete Second Season

Kyle XY Season 2 - The long-awaited set is here!
For those who so thoroughly enjoyed Season 1 of Kyle XY, Season 2 continues the story with some new twists and new characters, while wrapping up loose threads from Season 1. After the death of his mentor, Adam Baylin, Kyle returns to the Trager family, who keenly felt his absence.

Kyle continues to work on developing his abilities under the tutelage of Tom Foss (Nicholas Lea, Alex Krycek on "The X-Files"), while keeping his activities secret, which strains his relationship with his newly adopted family. He also pursues a relationship with Amanda, the neighbor girl he doted on in Season 1.

However, in Season 2, Kyle is no longer the only one of his kind. Shortly before a bomb takes out the laboratory where Kyle was created, a female like him emerges from her pod and runs wild in Seattle, until the company that created her reprograms her into Jessi, Kyle's friend/enemy. She is almost his complete opposite, unafraid to even kill.

The Trager family's lives...

Absolutely Fantastic! Packed with a lot of bonus features!
When the first season of "KYLE XY" appeared on television, what a refreshing and unique sci-fi drama series that features a young man who wakes up in the middle of the forest and is taken in by the Trager family despite the guy have no knowledge of his past or who he is. What is known is that he may be special and the fact that he has no belly button, even makes things a bit more interesting. Is Kyle an alien? Why does have this abilities?

The first season ended with Kyle leaving with his parents and leaving the Trager family, the only family that has taught him love and made him feel like's he's part of the family.

With the second season of "KYLE XY", because of the series becoming ABC Family's highest rated show, the second season jumps from the first season's ten episodes to a total of 23 episodes. And what an exciting season it was with the introduction of Jessi XX, Kyle getting to know the secrets of his past and who he is, Josh gets a girlfriend, Kyle...

Old Geezer Enjoys Youthful Show
I purchased this TV series on DVD as a birthday gift for my 13yr old daughter. My daughter and I have a love of movies & TV shows but I had no interest in this series until she hounded me to watch it with her. Man, was I surprised at how good it was! Great concept along with the writing, fine casting, holds your interest like you wouldn't believe, and if you're not careful, it'll really hook you. I found myself addicted and couldn't wait to get into each new episode. The set was offered at a very good price, transaction was smoothe & was received quick. I recommend this 3 season series very highly if your a sci-fi fan, like mysteries, covert operations themes, and stories involving genetic engineering. Matt Dallas' portrayal of Kyle is superb. You really feel his frustration as he tries desperately to solve the puzzle of who he is and where he came from. You also experience his awe as he discovers things about everyday life that we take for granted. I'm so thankful that my daughter...

Welcome to the NHK: Season One, Part Two

Already one of my Favorites
Both funny and emotionally powerful, Welcome to the NHK is an anime that definitely deserves to be watched, if not owned by any red-blooded otaku. What I like best about this series is how real it seems in the end...there is no deus ex machina situation that solves Tatsuhiro Sato's and Misaki Nakahara's problems. It just feels so right and believable. That being said, the pacing of the series feels a bit off to me, resulting in some clunky storytelling but to anyone that sticks around this really won't matter. This anime deserves its place on my DVD shelf.

Wow
Wow. It is every bit of that good. This is one of the best drama animes I have ever seen. I will spare you the details on the plot to simply say that if you like a dramatic anime about people and their psychological issues get this anime immediately. Pay for the fast shipping so you can get started watching it right away.

A Manic Love Story?
22 year old Satou is a NEET, and a hikkikomori. He never leaves the house. He just sits around drinking beer, smoking, and watching TV. On top of all this he is also delusional. He convinces himself that a group called the NHK (Nihon Hikkikomori Kyoukai) is out to get him and turn the entire country into NEETs. One day a pretty high school girl named Misaki visits him and offers to give him counseling to cure his hikkikomori condition. The 2 become closer and begin to rely on each other. As their relationship strengthens Satou is able to venture out and do things on his own. Lot's of drama and comedy ensue.

This anime is completely different from anything I've ever seen. It dark and methodical vibe are complemented by the main characters hilarious paranoia and perverted imagination. The production is top notch. Animation and music are all very good. It also stars 2 of my favorite voice actors, Chris Patton and Luci Christian. Given Satou's perverted imagination, this anime...

Harlequin: A Change of Place

Harlequin: A Change of Place - I like it
As I stated in another review of harlequin turned movie, I enjoy these simplistic movies. I really enjoyed this one. I thought it was rather good and I am not sorry I made the purchase. I try to collect just about all of the Harlequin based movies because I like un-complicated viewing.

Addicted to Romance
Interesting romance movie with romantic tension and intrigue and an interesting twist in the story. If your looking for a "take me away" movie and one you want to watch over and over this is it!!!! At least in my opinion. Nothing like a Harlequin movie. Love a great romance with romantic tension between the characters!!!! Why can't American romance movies be made like this, especially without all the psychological drivel or the ding bat fluff! Canada has made the best romance movies in my opinion.

A switched-twins light romantic drama set in beautiful Paris
Twenty-something Kimberly is as different as night and day from her identical-twin sister Domenique (both parts played by Andrea Roth). Kimberly is a dedicated scholar working on her Ph.D. in art history, and Domenique is a successful model based in Paris. Kimberly hasn't seen her sister in years when she suddenly shows up on Kimberly's doorstep in the U.S. It is obvious Domenique has a major drinking problem, but she has been unable to check herself into a rehab facility for fear her career will tank in the ultra-competitive world of modeling while she is out of commission for 28 days. When Kimberly expresses concern and states she wishes she could help her sister, it suddenly occurs to Domenique that with a bit of fashion and grooming help, Kimberly could be a dead ringer for her and actually take her place in Paris for a few weeks while she gets medical help. Though Kimberly protests strongly at first, it is clear that her sister's very survival is at stake and she ultimately gives...

Nip/Tuck: Season 5, Part 1

what A LOT of people dont seem to realize...
what A LOT of people dont seem to realize is that there were supposed to be 22 episodes this season, making it the longest nip/tuck season yet. however, only 14 were aired. (most likely due to the wrighters strike we're all so familiar with) so for those that feel there was no closure, you're right, there wasnt any, because that was never supposed to be the close, they just aired the ones they had finished.

while i agree, the plots have gotten more and more shocking, and less about the surgery and the subtlties of the charecter relationships, i have to keep my fingers crossed that by the end of the season (the missing episodes rumored to be airing early this fall, possibly late summer) things will turn around a bit and get more involved, and less trashy.

never the less, i'm gonna buy it, i plan to support my favorite show, leave my input, and hope it gets back to some taste.

love the show, love ya all, feel free to contact me

The fifth season of Nip/Tuck finds Sean (Dylan Walsh) and Christian (Julian McMahon) setting up their practice in the most synthetic town on the planet: Hollywood. It takes a while for things to take off, which they do when Sean and Christian end up stumbling into playing parts on a TV medical drama, and contending with its egotistic star (Midnight Meat Train's Bradley Cooper) while Sean romances its female lead (Paula Marshall). There's some inventive twists that are abound, including the downward spiral that Matt (John Hensley) and Kimber (Kelly Carlson) are on, and Julia's (Joely Richardson) surprising new realationship. There's pivotal guest star roles from Portia de Rossi, John Schneider, and sexy AnnaLynne McCord, and Nip/Tuck still manages to be entertaining five seasons in, even though this season just simply isn't as good as previous seasons of the series. Still, there's a cliffhanger ending that will have you salivating for more to come, and here's hoping that Nip/Tuck...

Another Attempt to Cheat the Consumer out of Money
I was excited and all set to purchase this dvd as I own the other seasons until I realized that it is not the complete season. Why would anyone in their right mind pay this astronomical amount (the same I paid for the entire season sets I got when they were released), only to have to pony up more money when the remaining episodes are released. While I love Nip/Tuck, I will not spend my hard earned money on a set that is not a complete season release. I refused to do so when 30 Rock did this, and I will not do so now. I say wait until the complete season is released and consider making the purchase at that time.

Welcome to the NHK: Season One, Part One

Welcome to the Insanity!
Note: This review is for the entire series; not just the first half.

----------------------

"The journey is more important than the destination."

Story: 8.5/10

NHK delves deep into the mind of a reclusive 22 year old called Tatsuhiro Satou. Poor Tatsuhiro has no friends, no money aside from the allowance his parents give him, has dropped out of the university he was attending and doesn't appear to have any future. By the time the story gets going, he's already spent three years living the life of a recluse, only going out at night (when there are few people around) to fetch food.

The anime gets going with a bizarre dream sequence where the word 'conspiracy' gets thrown around a lot. Then, even more bizarrely, another dream like sequence occurs shortly afterwards, showing his household appliances speaking to him, voicing the negative thoughts that lurk in the back of his mind. These dreams/visualizations are far from unusual in NHK...

"If you have the courage to jump, have the courage to live."
"I'm gonna live on a mountain
Way down under in Australia
Its either that or suicide
It's such a strange strain on you..." -Cheap Trick

"Welcome to the NHK" is an anime that peeks into the world of hikikomori and other social illnesses. Hikikomori are NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training ) who often have a pathological aversion to normal human contact. Shut-ins, hermits, agoraphobics, call them what you will, but such disorders are becoming more common in modern Asian subcultures. While this anime starts off as a very comical look at the subject, it winds up in a very dark place and very serious in tone. Getting to know these characters is very fun as we're likely to see aspects of ourselves and others and have a good laugh, but the overall social relevance factor for this series is surprisingly high. The plot meanders at times, but the end result is a one-of-a-kind series that anybody interested in human psychology should thoroughly...

Pineapple Express (Unrated + BD Live) [Blu-ray]

Remarkably fun and well-crafted.
A movie like PINEAPPLE EXPRESS should not be expected to be talked about in the same breath as CITIZEN KANE or GONE WITH THE WIND. However, it has nonetheless ascended to near the top ranks in its own particularly little sub-genre: the "pot" comedy.

While Cheech & Chong's UP IN SMOKE will probably always lead the pack, simply for being the first (and for being very edgy...in it's day)...EXPRESS is the first film of its ilk to boast huge laughs, modest thrills, enjoyable lead characters and a narrative structure that doesn't fall apart the further it goes. For example, the HAROLD AND KUMAR films can be greatly amusing, but their "plot" grows more and more flaccid and pointless as they move along. The lead "characters" are hardly believable as people...they are comic devices.

In PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, we have the story of a process server (Seth Rogan) who enjoys doing little else but smoking pot. He is decent at his job, but also spends much of it sitting in his...

Proof that James Franco can actually act
This was another in a long line of funny movies from Judd Apatow, but with a lot more action thrown in for good measure. Seth Rogen may always sound and act the same in everything he does, but that doesn't make him any less funny. James Franco is the real star of the show. I always thought he had great potential, but he just seemed so bland in the Spider-Man movies and Flyboys. This is a well acted and funny performance. I heard some people on the web talk about casting him as The Joker in the next Batman movie. Whether it happens or not, I now think he has a chance to pull it off. All the other cast members are weirdly memorable, especially the cat loving drug dealer who just won't die.

Pineapple Express does get really violent and a little gory towards the end, but it is a good mix of comedy and action. It's just plain fun.

3 and 1/2 out of 5 stars

The muddy moments are forgivably sparse...
Truth be told, there were moments in this film where I died of uncontrollable laughter. I mean, Seth Rogen is hilarious, and James Franco is really transforming into an actor I get excited about watching. What happened there? There was a time when I would intentionally avoid movies starring that guy. I must say, he's surprised me. This film is a little unevenly crafted, but the end result is not anything to be ashamed of. It basically follows some stoner idiots as they run from a corrupt police officer and a drug dealer who they happened to witness kill some guy. The film bounces along nicely, remaining forgivably unbelievable. The ending, for me, was a mess and that whole action sequence overload killed a little of the films `fun factor', but the ending diner sequence was a laugh riot so I forgave it. James Franco owns this movie, playing a mindless stoner to perfection with the right amount of overplayed tenderness to make his character a pure standout. Not much else to...

Netherbeast Incorporated

Do you see an office full of the undead? Where?
Having seen the short film "The Netherbeast of Berm-Tech Industries Inc" some time ago, I have been eagerly awaiting the DVD release of the feature length film Netherbeast Incorporated. It does not disappoint.

Vampires ( or Netherfolk as they prefer to be called ) are among us. Toiling away in cubicles, chanting the same inane corporate slogans. They just want to live their lives and hit their productivity goals. The only major difference is that they must consume human flesh and blood to survive. In order to do so they cloister themselves away in their corporate headquarters, maintaining minimal human contact except for regular shipments of donated blood and the recently deceased. So what happens when the boss loses his mind and starts hiring humans from the outside? We get a movie that lies somewhere between Office Space and From Dusk Till Dawn.

The special features are entertaining and add to the experience. They have even included the original short film,...

A dark comedy-drama about vampires.
I bought this movie because Amy Davidson is in it.
I watched it more than once because it is original, witty, well made, and thoroughly entertaining. Highly recommend it to anyone who likes dark comedy.

Quirky but lacks bite
Well done movie not about vampires, but a weird business family

This would be a good movie to study how good acting is supposed to be.

Reminds me of my office ... LOL

Babylon A.D.

Doesn't deserve the hatred -- and probably no more than a rental.
Much like The Spirit, a poorly-written, all-over-the-map misinterpretation of Will Eisner's character, complete with entertaining performances and stunning visuals, Babylon A.D. is a confusing, occasionally dry, very familiar mess with some strong performances and stunning visuals in service of a fairly engaging story. It is not, by any means, a great film. It is also not, by any means, a disaster. I noted that Babylon A.D. has one one-star rating on here, and I think the movie deserves better. I saw the film in theaters, and I was reasonably entertained up until the last five minutes. Not even The Spirit completely lived up to that standard.

When films like this come along, I wonder how many people tune out once they've seen a few things they don't like. I am a glass-half-full person. Hundreds of films come out every year, and 90% of them probably have merits that people simply ignore because it's easier to attack the things about them that aren't as sharp. Sure, it...

Could have been much better.
Babylon A.D. / B001KMB6YG

*Spoilers*

I'm not really sure what happened here. Vin Diesel does mindless action, and does it well, and here is no exception - whatever flaws "Babylon A.D." has, they are not his fault. Nor are they the fault of Michelle Yeoh who carries herself (as always) superbly, leaving the viewer to wonder why, exactly, Yeoh keeps showing up in particularly flat action movies (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor leaps to mind) when she really is so much better than that and has proven it time and time again. Either there's still some kind of "White Actresses Only" rule barring Yeoh from the better movies, or she has a really terrible agent. Anyway.

Sometimes you can just tell when a movie is based off of a science fiction story you haven't been exposed to. "Babylon A.D." is definitely one of those movies - sure enough, the opening credits note a sci-fi story that...

INTRIGUING STUNNER...... bad editing. ***UK extended edition available
I rarely go into Vin Diesel movies with high expectations given his limited range. Let's face it, when you build a certain physique and persona you have to accept being pigeon holed a little as an actor. I read other reviews before watching this and removed it from my pre-order list in lieu for a rental. What a surprise to the upside. Some of the critique for this movie is warranted and the ending as you find it in the US edition will leave questions. The most important attitude to see this movie with is to enjoy the process and not look for simple gratification in the ending. As a near futuristic movie, this film tackles the challenge of envisioning a near future with new technology that is, if not realistic, still far from the utterly ridiculous that many movies try to present. THIS IS NOT JUST A DUMBED DOWN ACTION SPECTACLE. One might be surprised to see Vin in what is actually a very ambitious, intelligent movie for this genre. Though any one part of the plot by itself...
